SILENT WAYS 

 



The Silent Way is a language-teaching method created by Caleb Gattegno that makes extensive use of silence as a teaching technique. It is not usually considered a mainstream method in language education.[1] It was first introduced in Gattegno's book Teaching Foreign Languages in Schools: The Silent Way in 1963.[2]  (sources:

Silent ways is one of teaching method that encourage the student take active role in learning language. The use of this method usually used by the elementary or pre-school. Most of the use of this method is to elementary student to introduce vocabularies to the learners.

For example:  The first elementary school learns about colors. The teacher is using the picture of rainbow and the colors who explain in the rainbow. Then the students spells the words or colors that the teacher pointing on. The teacher give the instruction to the student if the students wrong to answer the question that she will repeatedly pointing the word or colors.

 
This activity suitable as the pre-activity in teaching learning process. It’s attract the students to focus to the lesson. The focus of this silent ways methods is to encourage the student learn about the language different ways.
