A Story about ME

I am English Teaching Program student in Universitas Tanjungpura. I am in love in English at the Junior High School. At the beginning of the English class i always got into punishment. Because i don't know anything about English. But, luckily at the middle of semester my teacher rotate the chair and made me sit with the smartest students in English. She is Rahmadita Mega Nurleysa, she is my friend who taught me about English. Since at the semester i am falling in love with English.

At the elementary i retarded child (that one of my friend call me). I couldn't read and write. It's the hardest time for me because all of my friend in the class can write and read. My mother was working hard to made me feel like the other children. She taught me at home and i had a private teacher who teach me at the school(when the break time (and i can't eat until i finish the task that she gave me)), when i went home, and when i went to my friends home the same teacher  private who teach me push me to learn with my friends.

Finally, i can read at the 3rd grade in Elementary schools. But i can't differentiate the word "b" and "d". My parent is thinking the others way to explain it the differentiate of it to me. My parents said "d" and pointing to the person who had a distend stomach and "d"  with someone who had a big butt. Sometimes my parents said "b" and than made a hand gesture in front of their body to explain the word "b" to me. Then They said "d" and pointing to their butt.

Now, at that the time of my study in English Teaching Program in Universitas Tanjungpura  i realize the method that my parent was using to me at the Elementary school is called TPR. TPR means Total Physical Response. It is an approach to teaching language based on the idea that if you have to do something physical in response to language, then learning is more meaningful, and you learn faster.

From the my story that i had told to you that my parents i couldn't find anymore ways to explain the word "b" and "d" to me. So they used the physical body to explain the differences to me. It's the smartest ways to teach child like me. Because of many of students who may be had a problem with read and writing like me at the time. But they are to afraid to tell their parents. I had watch the movie who had a similar story with my live (but in my life story my parents wasn't cruel with me and didn't send me to private school and find the ways to teach me with affection ). The title is  Taare Zameen Par.

TPR is a good ways to teach students especially for Elementary school.  It is based on the coordination of language and physical movement. In TPR, instructors give commands to students in the target language, and students respond with whole-body actions. In the process of teaching learning listening serves a dual purpose; it is both a means of understanding messages in the language being learned, and a means of learning the structure of the language itself.

For example : A teacher in the class is teaching first grade of a students in Elementary school. She is teaching about part of body. When the lesson starts she ask her students to follow her move and says. Then she is touching her nose and said "touch your nose" and the students follow it.The next is teacher is do it to the another part of body as in explain that i found in the Youtube.

Total physical response is often used alongside other methods and techniques. It is popular with beginners and with young learners, although it can be used with students of all levels and all age groups.

SPECIAL THANKS TO  : 1. ALLAH SWT ALLA to make me the person i am today
